Cornsilk Letter to the editor, Indian Country Today: Racism and ignorance at their apex!

In an Op-ed. by Suzanne Jasper and a letter to the editor by Mona Bandstra published in ICT, I find most appalling in that I am against any form of racism,  or bigotry espoused in total ignorance, and or intentional misinformation spewed as truth, In facts of the topic/subject matter.

Let us begin with Jasper,  the first paragraph depicts the total intent of the piece, by complete  omission/misinformation and seemingly ignorance, but probably not ignorance, given the status of the author, probably more in line with hope of nescience on the readers part.

Yes the intent of the letter is correct, but there ends the fact of the matter, the simple aspect of the request in the letter was  to investigate the actions of the 5 tribes in regards to racism against their Freedmen citizens, people of African descent. To ascertain this fact for yourself simply read the letter here: http://www.cornsilks.com/holderletter.pdf and pay particular to the section titled: “Treaties and Case Law” then to reiterate the fact of misinformation read  this letter: http://www.cornsilks.com/holderletterb&c.pdf from Reps Boren and Cole. Then to further show the Congress folks are in tune with law,  read the newly re-introduced  Watson Bill http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h111-2761 it points out the same treaties and case law. And the documentation and case law cited can be been at http://www.cornsilks.com. The Holder letter from Congress  and the new Watson Bill totally negates for the most part  the rest of the Jasper’s words as what they are, simply picayune!

As for any article of the treaty of 1866 being wiped out is a fantasy Chief Chad Smith has concocted for the purpose as depicted here by Jasper, a simple reading by the mentioned acts even by a layperson is easy to understand with respect to Statutes by Congress of the era as to their meaning and intent. Quite simply as Congressman Frank stated the 1866 Treaty stands in its entirety as supreme law of this land today! And for the benefit of we Cherokee People that care about ALL our brothers and sisters Cherokee, AG Holder must listen to the call!

And for the words of Bandstra in the letter to the editor titled “Let us define tribal sovereignty” There is just not a  whole lot to be said about them except maybe not quite as intellectually picayunish as Jasper’s, but most assuredly ignorant twaddle. Folks if one has desire to know what the Term Sovereignty means a good read is by David Cornsilk seen here: http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_david_co_080410_what_is_sovereignty_3f.htm then to further learn of what Smith, The CNO, and The Freedmen are all about read this Article by David: http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_david_co_080409_what_is_the_cno_3f.htm
